Seoul to Host Inaugural "MyK Festa" Korean Wave Festival in June
SEOUL, May 1, 2025 – South Korea will launch its first comprehensive Korean Wave festival this summer, showcasing the nation's cultural exports that have captured global attention. The inaugural "MyK Festa," organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in partnership with the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, will transform Olympic Park in southeastern Seoul into a celebration of Korean entertainment and lifestyle from June 19-22.
The four-day event will commence with a star-studded K-pop concert at the KSPO Dome featuring chart-topping acts including WayV, Lee Young-ji, aespa, and rising stars ILLIT and Hearts2Hearts. Additional performances scheduled for June 21-22 will showcase a diverse lineup of established and emerging artists, with ITZY, Chungha, Heize, Lyn, Lee Mu-jin, and BE'O set to take the stage.
In a distinctive programming choice highlighting Korea's cultural heritage, the festival will conclude with performances blending traditional Korean music with contemporary sounds, featuring acclaimed fusion groups ADG7 and Uheeska.
"MyK Festa represents our vision of Hallyu's evolution beyond entertainment into a comprehensive cultural and economic force," explained Yune Yang-su, director of international cultural affairs and public relations at the ministry. "We're creating a platform where international fans can engage directly with Korean culture while simultaneously supporting our creative industries' global expansion."
Beyond musical performances, the festival encompasses business networking opportunities, industry conferences, and interactive exhibitions. Approximately 100 Korean companies spanning music, television, webtoons, culinary arts, and lifestyle sectors will participate, creating business-to-business connections while offering attendees immersive experiences.
Tourism officials anticipate the event will strengthen Korea's position as a cultural tourism destination, encouraging the growing community of international K-culture enthusiasts to visit the country. The festival's timing aligns with efforts to develop sustainable Hallyu-driven tourism that benefits the broader Korean economy.
With its multifaceted approach combining entertainment, business development, and cultural exchange, MyK Festa aims to establish itself as the definitive annual gathering for the global Korean Wave community.
